About The Vig
A enforcement layer for people who already know the problem — and need something that treats compulsion like debt, not drama.
What it is
The Vig is an Android accessibility-based enforcement app. You mark target applications, accept launch friction, and carry a ledger of time debt. When you overstay, penalties accrue: marked-app lockouts, grayscale, grainy grey overlay, and a collection balance with VIG markup. You cannot open what you marked until the debt clears.
Daily rule changes happen only during The Window — a fixed maintenance period each morning. Outside that window, terms lock. The app is designed so “I’ll change it later” is not a viable escape hatch at 11pm.
What it is not
Not a Pomodoro timer. Not a screen-time chart with green checkmarks. Not a VPN, not a parental control suite, and not a therapist. It does not explain why you scroll. It makes scrolling cost more.
Who it is for
Adults who install it on their own device, grant invasive permissions knowingly, and want structural friction stronger than a notification. If you need clinical support for compulsive use, seek qualified help — The Vig is a tool, not treatment.
This site
thevig.eu hosts product information, setup documentation, and legal terms for the Android client. Backend services for accounts and sync may expand over time; the enforcement logic lives on your device first.
