1. Service description

The Vig provides an Android application and informational website at thevig.eu. The application monitors usage of user-selected apps and applies user-configured enforcement measures including time accounting, access restrictions, and display degradation.

2. Assumption of risk

You acknowledge that enforcement software can lock you out of applications, interfere with device settings, and require technical steps (including ADB commands) to recover access. You install and configure The Vig at your own risk on devices you control.

3. No warranty

The software and site are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, complete blocking of target apps, or prevention of circumvention.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Vig, its operators, and contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, productivity, or device access arising from use or inability to use the application or site.

5. Not medical or clinical advice

The Vig is not a medical device and does not provide mental health treatment, diagnosis, or crisis support. If you have a condition involving compulsive technology use, consult a qualified professional.

6. Permissions and data

The Android app requires elevated permissions to function. Enforcement data — The Tab, Collection, marked app lists, The Window schedule, launch settings, and the full usage ledger — is stored on your device and is not uploaded as part of normal app use.

The Web in-app browser is the only in-app feature that sends data to thevig.eu servers, to the Urlgate domain mega-list, or to third-party AI. When you browse sites outside your shortcut list, the app may look up the host on the mega-list and may send page URL, title, a short excerpt of visible text, and referrer for AI classification (see section 7). The app asks you to accept or reject this before the browser opens; your device id, decision, and timestamp are logged on our servers.

Do not install if you do not accept the permission model on the Permissions page.

7. Domain list and third-party AI classification

When you browse unfamiliar sites in The Web in-app browser, our servers may first look up the host against a public domain mega-list operated as Urlgate (urlgate.0xbase.eu). That lookup uses the host / URL only (no page body) to hard-block high time-waste categories (score > 6) and to meter social-tier hosts (score 6) to a short visit. Hosts that pass may then be spot-checked with AI: the app may send a page URL, title, a short excerpt of visible page text (up to 4,000 characters), and referrer URL to our servers. Our servers may forward that material to DeepSeek (deepseek.com) for automated classification — allowing brief errands while locking sustained recreational browsing and blocking clearly inappropriate or account-bound pages.

Pages that appear to contain password fields or other sensitive signals are blocked locally on your device and are not uploaded. Verdicts are cached per device and path on our servers. We do not use this data for advertising. Urlgate and DeepSeek process requests under their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control.

If you do not accept this processing, tap Reject when the app asks before opening The Web browser, or do not use that feature.

7.1 AI app categorization

When you use the Find The Marks with AI feature, the app uploads your installed app names (package names and display labels) and Android category identifiers to our servers. Our servers forward that data to DeepSeek for automated classification into The Marks, Soft Marks, Exempt, or unmarked tiers. The app does not send any app usage data, messages, account credentials, or in-app content.

You review every suggested change in a confirmation dialog and may discard individual suggestions or skip the entire set before changes are applied. We do not use app inventory data for advertising. DeepSeek processes requests under its own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control.

8. Acceptable use

You may not use The Vig to monitor or control another person’s device without their informed consent and lawful authority. You may not attempt to disrupt thevig.eu or other users’ deployments.

9. Changes

We may update these terms or the application behavior. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
