Download for Android
Direct APK install. Not on Google Play — you sideload it, grant permissions, and accept the terms.
The Vig for Android
Package eu.thevig · Android 8.0+ · Accessibility-based enforcement
Tap the button on your phone. If nothing installs, read the steps below — Android blocks unknown apps by default.
Why Android makes this awkward
Google Play is the default path for apps. The Vig is distributed here as an APK file — Android’s direct install format. That is normal for beta software, internal tools, and apps that need invasive permissions Play would reject or delay.
Because you are not installing from the Play Store, Android treats this as an unknown app. Recent versions block the install until you explicitly allow your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Samsung Internet, etc.) to install APKs.
Allow installs from your browser
Steps vary slightly by manufacturer. The pattern is the same on Android 8 and later:
- Download the APK using the button above.
- When prompted, open the downloaded file from your notification shade or Downloads folder.
- If Android says installation is blocked, tap Settings on that dialog.
- Enable Allow from this source (or “Install unknown apps”) for the browser you used.
- Return and tap the APK again to install.
Manual path (Settings)
If you do not get a Settings shortcut on the block dialog:
- Open Settings → Apps → Special app access (or Security on older devices).
- Choose Install unknown apps.
- Select your browser and allow installs.
- Re-open the downloaded thevig.apk file.
After install
Follow the in-app setup checklist in order — accessibility last. Full steps are on the Help page. You will grant overlay, device admin, battery exemption, and accessibility access.
Updates
Re-download from this page when a new build is published. Android may ask you to confirm replacing the existing install. Your on-device data is kept unless you uninstall first.
